Far from signaling film scoring Devo-lution, ex-cult rocker Mark Mothersbaugh has consistently proven himself as one of Hollywood’s most wackily animated composers, loading his work with hip retro samples, wacky rhythms and knowingly bombastic strings. Columbia Pictures recently held the premiere of 21 JUMP STREET at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Taken after the television show (1987-1991) of the same name, which starred Johnny Depp, Holly Robinson Peete (who stars in the film), Dustin Nguyen, Peter DeLuise and Richard Grieco. The film version has the same premise; two young looking guys from the police force go undercover in a local high school to investigate a drug ring.
