TCA 2012: Fox talks about the decision to renew FRINGE for a final season

While Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly admits that the network has history of cancelling low-rated genre shows despite huge fan bases, he admitted today at the Fox Summer TCA Press Tour that he was pleased he was able to give FRINGE a final 13-episode Season 5 send-off. “I don’t like to pull the plug on any show, and many of our failed shows have millions of fans,” says Reilly. “We have a checkered history with genre at best, because we’re one of the only networks who have consistently tried genre. While speaking to the press at the Fox Summer TCA Press Tour, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly says new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato have added a unique mix to the table of THE X FACTOR Season 2 which also includes returning judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. “I’m surprised at how feisty [Britney] is – she’s not afraid to lay it on the line,” says Reilly. “She’s been around and she’s rough. Plus we have a real spitfire with Demi. Early in the day at Fox’s 2012 Summer TCA Press Tour, AMERICAN IDOL producer Nigel Lythgoe spoke about the judge turnover on the show with Steven Tyler out and Jennifer Lopez saying he hoped Lopez would stay. “I was really upset to hear of Steven leaving us and the possibility of Jennifer leaving us,” says Lythgoe. “She did say 99 percent she was leaving.
