While speaking to the press at the Fox Summer TCA Press Tour, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly says new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato have added a unique mix to the table of THE X FACTOR Season 2 which also includes returning judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. “I’m surprised at how feisty [Britney] is – she’s not afraid to lay it on the line,” says Reilly. “She’s been around and she’s rough. Plus we have a real spitfire with Demi. The Top 11 went down to 10 last night on THE X FACTOR which saw the second “group” eliminated from the talent competition. Last week, Intensity went home, and this week two groups landed in the bottom two – The Stereo Hogzz and Lakoda Rayne. This brings up the issue of whether or not audiences HATE groups in these kind of competition or if they’re severely punishing Paula Abdul who is managing the groups. Even though Simon Cowell’s new singing competition series THE X FACTOR airs on Fox in the fall while AMERICAN IDOL (which he used to be on) airs in the Spring, he admitted today at a Summer 2011 Television Critics Association session that he still has the desire to beat IDOL. “You don’t enter something going for the silver medal,” says Cowell who managed to beat POP IDOL in the U.K. with THE X FACTOR previously. “You do it because you want to be number one.
