In ABC’s reboot of V, the alien Visitors trying to take over Earth are led by Anna (played by Morena Baccarin), who is a pretty cold customer even by extraterrestrial reptile standards. She mates with humans and then eats them, skins alive subordinates who displease her and even beats up her own daughter Lisa for disobedience. This season, we’ll see that Anna also has been dishing out rough treatment to her mother (portrayed by Jane Badler, who was the primary alien villainess in the original ’80s incarnation of V). Thanks to the fact that Anna is played by Baccarin (pronounced […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: TERRIERS executive producer Tim Minear talks frankly about the cancellation – Part 1

Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James in TERRIERS - Season 1 | ©2010 FX/Mike Muller

TERRIERS was a series that concluded its thirteen-episode run a few weeks ago on FX. The series chronicled the adventures of unorthodox private eyes Hank Dolworth, played by Donal Logue, and Britt Pollack, played by Michael Raymond-James, who stumble upon a clandestine land deal that will be bad for their beloved San Diego. Like a lot of shows that have low ratings, TERRIERS did not survive to its second season. Unlike practically any other canceled show in memory, TERRIERS had the network president, John Landgraf, explain to both the press and the series creative team exactly what went into the […]Read On »

American fans of DOCTOR WHO rejoice! At long last, after so many years of being second-class citizens, we are about to achieve synchronicity with our UK cousins. On December 25, 2010, BBC One and BBC America bridge the temporal gap between US and UK WHO fans, and it surely is about time! While […]Read On »

CD Review: DOCTOR WHO: SERIES 4 – THE SPECIALS – original soundtrack

© 2010 Silva Screen Records | DR. WHO HOLIDAY SPECIAL SOUNDTRACK

Whether it’s Halloween or Xmas, TV has loved to celebrate the holidays with special episodes, but it’s doubtful any of them have sounded cooler than when the usually agnostic Time Lord (in the series 4 personages of David Tennant, David Morrissey and Martin Smith) has decided to make the Yuletide gay. It’s also a great occasion for the always creative DOCTOR WHO composer Murray Gold to unleash the musical bells and whistles for this two-CD compilation that includes “The Next Doctor,” “Planet of the Dead,” “The Waters of Mars” and “The End of Time.” There are certain musical signatures you […]Read On »

DVD/Blu-ray Review: 24 – SEASON 8: THE COMPLETE FINAL SEASON

24 - SEASON 8 - THE COMPLETE FINAL SEASON DVD | ©2010 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

Day Eight proved to be the final day for 24 the TV series as the real-time series (chronicling a major U.S. crisis in a 24-hour period) waved goodbye in the same aggressive manner in which it began.

Kiefer Sutherland toplined the series as former Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent Jack Bauer. Over the course of eight seasons he lost so many of his loved ones, so much of his mind and soul and of course his privacy, he was a man without a country – a man without a home.

Exclusive Interview: SMALLVILLE producers Brian Wayne Peterson and Kelly Souders talk about Season 10

Who would have guessed that SMALLVILLE would have survived 10 years and two networks to live on as the longest running Superman-inspired series on television. From the inspired storytelling that took a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and chronicled his formative years before he became Superman, the series has taken many twists and turns, while also telling its own revisionist history of Kryptonians favorite son. As they get closer to the Season 10 series finale, executive producers Brian Wayne Peterson and Kelly Souders spoke with ASSIGNMENT X in this exclusive interview about where SMALLVILLE is going (without getting too spoilery […]Read On »

The Dork Side: ‘Tis the season to get ranty

THE TOURIST movie poster | ©2010 Sony Pictures

There were so many things that made me rant-y this week that I couldn’t pick just one. Consider it your holiday gift from me to you, dear readers. • Why are people all worked up about Time Magazine’s Person of the Year? It’s Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Who cares? You don’t read Time Magazine anyway. Can you even remember who was Time Magazine’s Person of the Year last year? Exactly. • Oh good. JWoww wrote a dating book. She’s single, right? According to Amazon, customers who bought this book also bought a dieting book by Rosie O’Donnell. • Umm, is […]Read On »
