Clark Gregg’s character S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson was first introduced to audiences in the original IRON MAN film. Coulson has subsequently helped superheroes and director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in IRON MAN 2, THOR and in the animated ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN series. S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury has Samuel Jackson’s awesome glower to keep the Avengers in line, but anyone watching THE AVENGERS or most of its predecessors – the two IRON MAN films and THOR – knows that the glue holding everything together is loyal, tenacious and calm Agent Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg.
