THE VAMPIRE DIARIES might be on Summer hiatus on The CW, but here at ASSIGNMENT X, we’ve been thinking a lot about what should happen next season. This show has had lots of twist and turns and ins and outs during the second season, even more than the first, so it’s to be expected that there will be some shake-ups for the new year. Here’s a list of things we’d like to see happen on the popular romance/supernatural genre show, check ‘em out and see if you agree with what we think should happen, or feel free to chime in […]Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “New York”

The cast of GLEE (L-R: Ashley Fink; Dianna Agron; Lea Michele; Heather Morrison; Kevin McHale; Jenna Ushkowitz; Amber Riley, Naya Rivera) visits New York in the Season 2 finale - "New York" | ©2011 Fox/Craig Blankenhorn

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Brad Falchuk Director: Brad Falchuk Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 24, 2011 Well we have at last reached the end of the second season of GLEE. This season had some really high points, and some horribly preachy overdone episodes, but all in all I try to just remember the moments that honestly were amazing. Following on the heels of last week’s episode “Funeral” (which was one of BEST episodes of the […]Read On »

The Dork Side: The problem with GLEE and its real “agenda”

I like GLEE. I really do, but, I have a problem with it, and I want you to know that I criticize it, because I care. Conservative pundits have been ranting about the supposed gay agenda the show is pushing, which is completely ridiculous. Of course, several media outlets ran with the story even though it’s total crap. There is no gay agenda. It’s just a TV show that treats its gay characters like actual human beings. “Gay people are people, too. Film at 11.” GLEE (which airs its Season 2 finale tonight) does a lot of things right. It […]Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Funeral”

Jane Lynch, Jessalyn Golsig, Kent Avenido in GLEE - Season 2 - "Funeral" | ©2011 Fox/Beth Dubber

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ryan Murphy Director:  Bradley Buecker Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 18, 2011 Characters should be the backbone of any TV series. They should move a series forward, they should connect with an audience and there should be some consistency in their actions as well. With GLEE in Season 2, it’s proven to be a topsy-turvy ride character-wise with random motivations, left-field personality switches and a heavy reliance on romantic pairings that […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – Season 2 – “As I Lay Dying”

Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev in THE VAMPIRE DIARIES - Season 2 - "As I Lay Dying" | ©2011 The CW/Annette Brown

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writers: Turi Meyer & Al Septin & Michael Narducci, Developed by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: John Behring Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: May 12th, 2010 Well, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES season finale was not at all what I expected, in a GOOD way! “As I Lay Dying” I figured would just be a dénouement to the season which had already seen a lot of character death and loss and mayhem, but instead there was a lot to this episode that I […]Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Prom Queen”

Kevin McHale and Heather Morris in GLEE - Season 2 - "Prom Queen" | ©2011 Fox/Adam Rose

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ian Brennan Director: Eric Stoltz Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 10, 2011 GLEE seems to have gotten off the preachy wagon and somewhat more on track with this week’s episode “Prom Queen”.  Of course since there are lots of gay themes this week, conservative America led by the sow of the decade Victoria Jackson will consider this episode part of the dreaded “Gay Agenda”. Incidentally, if I could figure out what […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: GLEE star Kevin McHale gets his funk on

Kevin McHale in GLEE - Season 2 | ©2011 Fox/Miranda Penn Turin

Kevin McHale plays the wheelchair bound Artie on the hit Fox series GLEE, and one of the most surprising things about the character and the actor himself is the eclectic group of songs he gets to sing. And in Season 2, he’s also fallen in love and broken up with the show’s ditzy Brittany (Heather Morris). We briefly spoke to the young actor as he discusses his favorite songs, the show’s success and being a role model. ASSIGNMENT X: Are you surprised at how successful the show has become – especially since the first 13 episodes were done in a […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – Season 2 – “The Sun Also Rises”

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Caroline Dries & Mike Daniels, Developed by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: Paul M. Sommers Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: May 5th, 2010 There’s one more episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, but this really felt like a season finale to me. The writers are going the way of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER season four, and the last episode will probably be a resolution episode from all of the fallout of this season. “The Sun Also Rises” is a well-crafted episode that […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – Season 2 – “The Last Day”

Matt Davis and Ian Somerhalder in THE VAMPIRE DIARIES - Season 2 - "The Last Day" | ©2011 The CW/Bob Mahoney

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Andrew Chambliss & Brian Young, Developed by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: J. Miller Tobin Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: April 28th, 2010 The latest episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has such a CRASH, BOOM, BANG ending I was blown away with the amount of danger they could put almost every character in. “The Last Day” doesn’t even bother with getting up a head of steam as it races the series and the characters towards the inevitable confrontation with Klauss (Joseph […]Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Rumours”

Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Morrison in GLEE - Season 2 - "Rumours" | ©2011 Fox/Beth Dubber

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ryan Murphy Director: Tim Hunter Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 3, 2011 I’m really not sure where GLEE is heading. I think that’s the one statement that best sums up my feelings of season two. Season One was a really strong start to a very promising series, but once all of the hype died down a bit, and the second season started I kept getting the feeling that the storylines were […]Read On »
