SUPERGIRL is now on Monday nights on the CW in its second season (its first season was on sibling network CBS). Melissa Benoist has received galactic acclaim as the young woman of steel. This season, she’s been joined by a few more family members from her home planet. Chris Wood plays Mon-El, and Tyler Hoechlin, lately of TEEN WOLF, has appeared and may yet be back as Kal-El, aka Clark Kent, aka Superman. Andrew Kreisberg, who co-created and executive-produces SUPERGIRL (and its CW DC Comics siblings, ARROW, THE FLASH and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW) talks about these developments. The third and final season of Starz’s DA VINCI’S DEMONS, Saturdays at 8 PM, sees Leonardo Da Vinci, still a relatively young man played by Tom Riley, making weapons of war to defend Italy from the Turks. David S. Goyer, who created DA VINCI’S DEMONS and is one of the executive producers, originally turned over the show-running reins for the third season to John Shiban because he was up to his eyebrows in other projects, including writing the screenplay for the much-anticipated BATMAN V. SUPERMAN and creating/running NBC’s CONSTANTINE, the TV series adaptation of D.C. Comics’ HELLBLAZER. However, as Goyer […]Read On »

Marc Guggenheim, an executive producer/show runner on the CW’s ARROW, Wednesdays at 9 PM, and its spin-off THE FLASH, Tuesdays at 8 PM, is very happy. Not only have both series been picked up for next season – it will be ARROW’s fourth and THE FLASH’s second – but the network has put together an impressive display of costumes from both D.C. Comics-derived series for the Television Critics Association. THE FLASH, a DC Comics title, was born for television in the generation within episodes of ARROW (itself derived from DC Comics’ GREEN ARROW), introducing super-fast Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) to […]Read On »

DC Comics is doing very well on television right now, with ARROW entering its third season on The CW, and two new series, Fox’s GOTHAM and The CW’s THE FLASH, launching this fall. THE FLASH, which premieres Tuesday, October 7 at 8 PM, takes its title from the alter ego of upbeat young police forensics investigator Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin. Thanks to an event that may be extraterrestrial, mad science or both, Barry finds that he can run at superhero speed. Gustin’s version of the character first showed up last season on several episodes ARROW; in the opening […]Read On »
