To mix it up a bit this week on the third week of eliminations during AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: The Quarter Finals, they did something almost too cruel to imagine. Host Nick Cannon called to the stage three acts – Purrfect Angelz, Summerwind Skippers and Ian Johnson. Then, after the traditional looooonngggg pause, Cannon delivered the message to all three acts that “NONE” of you are going to the semi-finals.

Man, that’s cold!

AGT quickly made up for it when Cannon called out PopLyfe and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and told them, after the long pause, they were BOTH going to the semi-finals. I guess they have to do something a little different to make the show less boring, but c’mon. The only thing more bottom of the barrel than that was having Smurfs digitally jumping around on the judges’ panel interacting with Piers Morgan, Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne and then concluding with Cannon telling the audience that a sneak peak of the film THE SMURFS was coming up later, so don’t miss it. Tacky, tacky, tacky.

There was nothing tacky about America moving opera singer Lys Agnes on in the competition. She became the third pick this week for the semi-finals. Left out were hip swiveling Mauricio Herrera, 12-year-old singer Monet and Captain and Maybelle who put hooks in the eyelids…ooooowwwwwww.

What made AGT really rock this week was not who went home and who stayed, but rock n roll legend Stevie Nicks, who performed two songs. Nicks sounds as good as ever and it just goes to show you who are the amateurs and who is the pro. AGT alumnus Fighting Gravity also performed tonight.

After Cannon announced THE SMURFS promo – he must just hate his job sometimes – it came down to just three acts. The Sh’Boss Boys – 5,6, & 7 year old rappers, Seth Grabel the illusionist and Professor Splash – his name says it all. In the end Professor Splash won the judges over and became the fourth pick for the week.

Next week the fourth quarter finals…stay tuned!

  1. Nick Cannon must hate his job sometimes because of that? The guy had his own Nickelodeon show go on the air AT AGE 22! That’s well beyond the age MOST of the people on the network started a show… So, i’m sure it was no more demeaning than that…
