In part two of our exclusive interview with Stevie Salas and the Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo, both discuss what they learned during their work on the documentary RUMBLE: THE INDIANS WHO ROCKED THE WORLD, making its PBS debut Monday, January 21. ASSIGNMENT X: Has anything you’ve learned in the course of making this film affected your own music, the way you make music, your attitude toward your music, what you want to do with the music? TABOO: It has. It inspired me to be, I say, like the P. Diddy of Native artists. Because I have such a huge platform, […]Read On »

Fox has just renewed BONES for an eighth season. The series, now on Monday nights at 8 PM, was developed by Hart Hanson from Kathy Reichs’ novels about a forensic anthropologist who uses her skills to solve homicide cases. On the show, Dr. Temperance Brennan, played by Emily Deschanel, teamed up with FBI agent Seeley Booth, played by David Boreanaz, to find and catch murderers. Over time, the partnership became a will-they/won’t-they romantic relationship, which became a yes-they-do when Brennan became pregnant by Booth at the end of last season. In the episode “The Prisoner in the Pipe,” their daughter […]Read On »

Gibbons Writer: Karine Rosenthal, series created by Hart Hanson, based on the life and writings of Kathy Reichs Director: Jeannot Szwarc Network: Fox, Thursdays @ 9 PM Airdate: December 8, 2011 “The Twist in the Twister” is a BONES episode that brings in some Weather Channel-esque action to spin an intriguing A story, with subplots for Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz), Angela (Michaela Conlin) and Jack (T.J. Thyne), and even recently-released psych patient squintern Fisher (Joel David Moore). The […]Read On »

Stars: David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Michaela Conlin, T.J. Thyne, Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, Michael Grant Terry Writer: Stephen Nathan Director: Ian Toynton Network: Fox, Thursdays @ 9 PM Airdate: November 3, 2011 Season 7 has a nice sturdy ring to it. Relatively few TV shows last this long. BONES enters this hallowed territory with the charm of its banter and character dynamics very much intact. The mystery of the week winds up feeling more peripheral than usual, but that’s not why most viewers tune in to BONES in the first place. Pleasingly little has changed in the dynamics between […]Read On »

At today’s Summer 2011 Television Critics Association press tour, Fox’s Entertainment President Kevin Reilly spoke about how proud he was with their Thursday night staple BONES and would love to see it continue well into Season 8 and beyond. “The producers and I would like to keep it going,” says Reilly. “And FINDER [its spin-off] is off to a great start. I see those shows as compatible and feeding off each other. I’m pretty darn happy with BONES on Thursday night. As CSI [on CBS] was fading, BONES is looking as resilient as ever. It’s a really valuable show to […]Read On »

Season 6 of BONES ended on an amazing note, so it’s not surprising that the anticipation for BONES – Season 7 is incredibly high. To tide us fans over, ASSIGNMENT X has compiled a list of things we’d like to see in Season 7. Let us know what you think. 1. Real-life pregnant Emily Deschanel playing fictional pregnant Temperance Brennan. We can safely expect this one. Kudos to show runner Hart Hanson, the production company and Deschanel for incorporating the pregnancy into the storyline rather than stashing Brennan behind autopsy tables or sending the character away for the duration. 2. Michaela Conlin is in her sixth season of playing Angela Montenegro, the artist who reconstructs what corpses looked like as living humans, on Fox’s hit BONES (Thirsdays at 9 PM). While Angela works with forensic evidence, she’s not a pathologist like her good friend Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel), nor law enforcement like FBI Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz). However, this week, audiences will get to see a whole different side of Conlin as she plays LAPD Detective Sobel in THE LINCOLN LAWYER, based on Michael Connelly’s novel, which opens Friday. Conlin is very excited about both gigs, as she […]Read On »

TV Review: BONES – Season 6 – “The Killer in the Crosshairs”

Emily Deschanel in BONES - Season 6 - "The Killer in the Crosshairs" | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

Thyne, John Francis Daley, Arnold Vosloo, Billy Gibbons Writer: Michael Peterson Director: Milan Cheylov Network: Fox, Thursdays @ 9 PM Airdate: March 10, 2011 Most BONES episodes hew to a fairly specific and usually agreeable formula. This is the case with “The Killer in the Crosshairs,” which has as its serious A plot Booth’s (David Boreanaz) continued search for former military sniper colleague-turned-vigilante Jake Brodsky (Arnold Vosloo). Booth is consciously worried that his literal-minded partner Brennan (Emily Deschanel) seems to equate the two men and doesn’t understand that Booth in fact does […]Read On »
