Ever since Mark Waters launched Rolfe Kent as the king of comedy scoring quirk with HOUSE OF YES, the two have oft-times been rumbling in the jungle with FREAKY FRIDAY, JUST LIKE HEAVEN, GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST and MEAN GIRLS. 20th Century Fox held the Los Angeles Premiere of MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS on June 12th, at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Along with a “white” carpet with MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS written on it, there was loads of cotton to make it look like snow drifts and snow blowing (actually it was soap suds) as the stars walked down the carpet at the start of the premiere. They had built a pen by the doors of the theatre to house the Penguins, who actually walked the whole length of the carpet. On Showtime’s CALIFORNICATION, now in its fourth season on Sunday nights, David Duchovny stars as writer Hank Moody, who has an on-again, off-again relationship with his wife (Natascha McElhone), a strained bond with his teenaged daughter (Madelein Martin) and a continual urge to perform the title activity. This year, actress Carla Gugino joined the cast as Abby Rhodes, who starts out representing Hank professionally and becomes involved with him personally.
