Exclusive Interview: V star Joel Gretsch doesn’t let those lizards get under his collar

In Season Two of V, it’s become pretty clear that the alien Visitors, lead by Morena Baccarin’s stern Anna, do not have the best interests of humanity at heart. What the Vs do have is an enormous amount of high-tech weaponry. Standing against them are a small group of mixed humans and Vs known as the Fifth Column. Joel Gretsch plays Father Jack Landry, a key member of the Fifth Column whose faith is powerfully tested by both the existence and actions of the Visitors. Gretsch is something of a genre veteran – he was in the extraterrestrial miniseries TAKEN […]Read On »

TV Review: V – Season 2 – “Unholy Alliance”

Something strange and wonderful happened with V last night taking its regular story about aliens and the human resistance fighters trying to take them down and mixing it with the hot button issue of “religion.”

Religion in science-fiction is a no brainer (not without its own controversy), and to find such an intelligence, smart and still entertaining way of integrating it into a network show takes balance and tact which writer Rockne S. O’Bannon handles effortlessly.

It’s no surprise that V has struggled during its run to find its voice and remedy pacing issues. And the first two episodes of Season Two offered up promise, but still felt like the series was dealing with the wayward plotting ghosts of Season One.

However, “Laid Bare” has remedied many of those issues. A solid episode packed with action, revelations and some very cool effects, it’s one of the best episodes of the series to date and promises a major upheaval in the personal lives of all the characters.

Stars: Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf, Charles Mesure Writers: Gregg Hurwitz Director: Steve Shill Network: ABC Original Telecast: Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 You know, having a Visitor around the house would be pretty handy. Any time you get a mouse infestation or a rat, you’d have the perfect defense … they’d just be able to devour it and be done with it. Of course, this was the money shot that V fans have been waiting for since the beginning of the rebooted series began. The lizards in action, doing lizard-type things […]Read On »

We’re pleased with that. We wanted to give it space [by ordering] ten episodes, so we could quality control those episodes. We brought whole new ideas to it and amped up the adrenaline in that show to make sure it gets better and better.” CLICK HERE for ASSIGNMENT X’s exclusive interview with V […]Read On »

Stars: Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Morena Baccarin, Laura Vandervoort, Scott Wolf, Logan Huffman, Charles Mesure Writers: Scott Rosenbaum and Gregg Andrew Hurwitz Director: Bryan Spicer Network: ABC, airs Tuesdays @ 9 p.m. Original Telecast: Jan. 4, 2011 I had high hopes for the reboot of V when it aired last year. The classic series was fun and had some great moments but it was always cheeseball with lousy special effects and props. However, what made up for it was great storytelling and of a resistance that actually was organized, motivated and did something. The first season of the […]Read On »
