Elizabeth Van Lew, played by Daisy Head, and her mother Eliza (Mary-Louise Parker) were two wealthy Virginia women. Because of their societal position, no one suspected them of running a stop on the Underground Railroad, getting enslaved people to freedom, much less of being spies for the Union.
