ASSIGNMENT X recently got a few moments alone with Syfy Channel’s President of Original Programming Mark Stern to ask him about a few Syfy series, namely SANCTUARY, EUREKA and WAREHOUSE 13, plus the much-discussed THREE INCHES pilot. Here’s what he had to say.

ASSIGNMENT X: SANCTUARY just started up the second half of its third season. Is that on track for perhaps another season, or are you looking at how Season Four does?

MARK STERN: They’re working on this [fourth] season, they just started, so we’re really early. We’re just starting to get that first batch of scripts together.

AX: WAREHOUSE 13 and EUREKA – do you have any idea what the season extensions on those might be?

STERN: They’re definitely long-term franchises. They’re definitely going to be on the air this summer, so I’m sure WAREHOUSE has got as many years as EUREKA, if not more, and the same [possibilities of renewal] with EUREKA.

AX: And do you know what’s going on with THREE INCHES? It was said Syfy felt that it couldn’t go on the air at the same time as ALPHAS, which has gone to series, because of some similarities between them, but can you say what, if anything, is happening?

STERN: We’re looking at another way to get THREE INCHES going. We love it. So we’re trying to figure out a way to do both right now.

AX: And would THREE INCHES still have the same cast – James Marsters, Brandon McLaren, Kyle Schmid – that the pilot had?

STERN: That would be the idea, yeah.

  1. Getting a bit tired of waiting to see Three Inches. Don’t know why SyFy came out with such a splash originally if they didn’t plan to put it on at the time. Can’t wait to see James Marsters and Kyle Schmid back on TV again, hurry up already!!!

  2. Sounds like a great slate of shows. I am especially looking forward to the return of James Marsters (Three Inches) to a weekly tv series. Thanks for the update.

  3. Naturally this will all hinge on how well the shows, Sanctuary, Warehouse 13, and Eureka will do RATINGS WISE. Regardless of what Mr. Stern says, if even one of them starts dipping in ratings, they’ll start looking to drop it like a hot potato. I’m worried with the move to Mondays SyFy has done to all 3 of them.
