The English actress has played some contemporary characters, but she’s often cast in period pieces, including her film debut THE ILLUSIONIST, followed by the features ALICE IN WONDERLAND (Victorian England) and JACK THE GIANT SLAYER (unspecified medieval England) and the miniseries DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY (Jane Austen’s England) and THE WHITE QUEEN (the War of the Roses). Aidan Turner has spent a fair amount of time working outside of the normal human realm. Not literally, of course, but the Irish actor played a vampire in the first three seasons of the original BBC BEING HUMAN, a werewolf in the film MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES and a dwarf in love with an elf in Peter Jackson’s cinematic THE HOBBIT trilogy.
