There may or may not be one more scene added to THE AVENGERS before its release. At a press conference on Thursday, AVENGERS star Robert Downey, Jr. announced, “We are shooting one more scene tonight. Not kidding.” At a second press conference immediately following this, AVENGERS writer/director Joss Whedon was asked about this. His response: “It’s Robert. Of course he’s kidding.” Who’s the real kidder here? Tell us what you think! Our guess, is it might be a new coda that will appear after the end credits like all the Marvel movies tend to drop in at the last minute. […]Read On »

Interview: THOR composer Patrick Doyle wields the mighty musical hammer

Thor soundtrack © 2011 Buena Vista Records

Save those puny electronic action scores for mere mortals. For if there’s one composer who’s brought down the symphonic thunder of the composing gods, then his name would be inscribed as Patrick Doyle. Receiving his musical and acting education in his native Scotland, Doyle’s dual artistic threats would strike up a winning collaboration with Kenneth Branagh, whom Doyle beat for an actual billing when both starred in CHARIOTS OF FIRE. Branagh would scantly toil in the background for long, as his theatrical flair allowed him to take a 9 million dollar gamble behind, and in front of the camera with […]Read On »

Created by X-MEN and THE AVENGERS scribe Zak Penn and Michael Karnow, the series follows five ordinary people who end up forming an extraordinary team helping out the Department of Defense. “I think superheroes have a lot of trouble on TV in general,” admits Penn while speaking today at NBC’s Summer Press Day 2011 in Pasadena, CA. “This show, from its […]Read On »
