Back in 2001, seven years before Barack Obama was elected President of the United States in real life, Dennis Haysbert played David Palmer, the first African-American U.S. President, on Fox’s 24. Haysbert remained in the role for four seasons before his character died and he moved over to CBS’ THE UNIT, where he spent another four years as Special Ops commander Jonas Blane. ABC’s CASTLE is in its seventh season, Monday nights at 10 PM. As of right now, nobody seems to know whether or not it will be back for an eighth year of romance and crime-solving with Nathan Fillion’s title character, a wealthy novelist who writes about crimes, and his muse (and now wife), NYPD homicide detective Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic. Penny Johnson Jerald, who has played Beckett’s boss, Captain Victoria Gates, since Season 4, is a big fan of a recent plot development that saw Castle becoming a New York private investigator. PENNY JOHNSON JERALD: I thought the […]Read On »

The main set for CBS’ SCORPION, now in its first season Mondays at 9 PM and picked up for Season 2, looks pretty much the way you’d expect. The team of geniuses assembled by Walter O’Brien (based on the real-life person of the same name, played in the series by Elyes Gabel) operates out of a ramshackle warehouse space in downtown Los Angeles. When the Television Critics Association is invited for a tour of the interior built on a soundstage in Manhattan Beach, Calif., there are bare pipes and grimy windows galore, all carefully crafted by the production design department. Prolific actress Beth Grant plays Beverly on Fox’s THE MINDY PROJECT, which has its season finale Tuesday, March 24. Grant’s character has gone from being homeless to trusted employee at the hospital where heroine Dr. Mindy Lahiri (played by series creator Mindy Kaling) works. In the show’s third season, Mindy is pregnant and about to have a baby – it’s probably a good thing Beverly is around when the doctor needs a hand. The Alabama-born Grant has done many stage, TV and film projects, including DONNIE DARKO, RAIN MAN, FLATLINERS, THE GOLDEN GIRLS, SPEED, THE X-FILES, FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, […]Read On »

Fox’s new hit EMPIRE has its two-hour first-season finale Wednesday, March 18, but have no fear – it was renewed for a second season almost immediately after it premiered to huge ratings in January. Henson) now that she’s out from a seventeen-year prison stretch and seeking her own piece of the company. The three Lyon sons are caught in the middle. Bryshere Y. […]Read On »

In NBC’s CHICAGO FIRE, now in its third season Tuesdays at 10 PM, there are few dull moments at the home base for Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61 and Battalion 25. Chief Wallace Boden, played by Eamonn Walker, not only has to try to keep all his people safe while they protect the city, but he’s now also managing a new wife and baby. Despite the all-American accent, actor Walker (whose first name is pronounced AY-mon) is actually from London, England. He previously played Kareem Said as a series regular on HBO’s OZ. Other credits include the […]Read On »

In TV One’s new telefilm HEAR NO EVIL, set and shot in Atlanta, Georgia, Jahnee Wallace stars as Shelby, a deaf teenager who suddenly can hear. Not only that, but she’s sure she’s hearing God. While Shelby’s parents (played by Jill Marie Jones and Richard T. Jones) and uncle (Jackie Long) have differing reactions to this development, there’s also the possibility that she may have heard something that endangers her. Wallace has played the adolescent selves of Wendy Raquel Robinson’s Tasha on THE GAME and Nicole Beharie’s Abbie on SLEEPY HOLLOW. She also costarred in the telefilm A CHRISTMAS BLESSING, […]Read On »

It’s easy to feel for FBI Special Agent Mike Weston, the character Shawn Ashmore plays on Fox’s THE FOLLOWING, now in its third season, Mondays at 9 PM. Mike has been tortured, taunted, at one point abandoned by his mentor, fellow agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), seen his own father murdered on camera and been antagonized into breaking the law and killing one of the people responsible (which Ryan helped cover up). Ashmore, who plays Bobby Drake aka Iceman in the X-MEN feature film series, does his best to talk about THE FOLLOWING without giving away too much. At a […]Read On »
