Before you say it, yes, we already know that MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER was sort of a spinoff from the current ongoing series on ABC AGENT OF SHIELD.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, another spinoff may be in the works that both Marvel and ABC have signed off on based on current plotlines happening on AOS in its second season.

This comes just one day before the debut of MARVEL’S DAREDEVIL on Netflix, where the first season will be available come Friday, April 10.

Now you may be asking, how many Marvel television series do we need? Given that Netflix also has in store MARVEL’S AKA JESSICA JONES, MARVEL’S LUKE CAGE and MARVEL’S IRON FIST. Not to mention that AOS might get a third season and talks are happening around AGENT CARTER getting a second season as well (which I, personally, would welcome with open arms and not just because Hayley Atwell is a total babe).

THR did not have any word on what the concept might be at this point but its sources said that it would become clear based on the plot elements happening in the final episodes of Season 2. There are also no plans to do an introduction-type episode in AOS as other spinoff shows have done in the past (such as CSI and CHICAGO FIRE).

So what might be the spinoff? Well, currently the plotline has one SHIELD group battling a rival SHIELD group for control over the spy agency but I highly doubt they would create another Shield program. There is also a subplot involving Inhumans, although the show so far as refused to actually call them that at this point. Deathlok also has re-emerged into the show as a member of SHIELD and there have been rumors in the past that Deathlok might be something Marvel would be willing to invest a full series into. Deathlok would be a good fit for THE DEFENDERS team-up they are angling for with the Netflix four series and there is an INHUMANS movie scheduled in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 slated to come out some time in either 2018 or 2019. So at this point, unless something new is revealed in the final episodes of the second season, either of these would be the most logical spinoff.
