SUPERNATURAL enters its eighth season this fall and while at Comic-Con 2012, ASSIGNMENT X got the scoop on what to expect from SUPERNATURAL Season 8.

We chatted with a number of the cast and crew from SUPERNATURAL during the press event for the show and got the low-down on some of the episodes that will take place.

This includes an episode directed by Jensen Ackles about Mayan gods and how what happened in the past is impacting people in the present day.

“There was a deal in Mayan days and it is affecting people in the modern day where people’s organs are being removed,” Ackles says.

As far as his time in purgatory, we know that much of the season in the beginning will tell the story via flashbacks. Ackles says that while in Purgatory he meets a new character that needs his help. The only way for both of these people to get out of Purgatory is them to work together and they can only get out together. Dean becomes indebted to this character for a while and he’s not a good guy.

But Castiel was also in Purgatory with Dean Winchester, so does that mean Castiel doesn’t get out? Misha Collins says that we are only seeing Purgatory in flashbacks.

“We do not know if Castiel survives purgatory or not. In Purgatory he is in survival mode,” he says.

One of the other characters that will be back and have an impact is Crowley, played by Mark Sheppard.

“Crowley has always been a character where you don’t have to have him in there every week,” says Sheppard answering the question as to if he would be in every episode.

As Season 7 ended, Crowley left with Kevin while Dean and Castiel were left in Purgatory. “When we come back, a sizable amount of time has happened,” Sheppard says.” And we will address that in flashbacks.”

As far as Crowley’s relationship with the Winchester brothers, Sheppard says it will become more contentious in Season 8, even though they are pursuing the same thing.
