Well, we are definitely in the s#*t now on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! Still barreling towards the inevitable HUGE season finale, the latest episode “Klaus” explains a lot, asks some new questions, and gives us a lot to mull over until next week.

One thing I love about this series is the fact that more often than not, each episode picks up almost exactly where the previous one left off. Last week Elena (Nina Dobrev) decided to take matters into her own hands to prevent Bonnie from sacrificing herself in the battle to take down Klaus. So Elena decided to pull the silver dagger with the white oak ash out of Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and bring him back to the land of the living. This is an incredibly smart choice it turns out.

The episode has several flashbacks to 1491 showing when Elijah first met Katherine (Nina Dobrev), and also gives us our first look at Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in his real body. I think it was an intelligent choice for the series creators and the casting director to cast an attractive man as the Big Bad for the season. Klaus is a good looking guy, and you really wish things were different and he could be one of the nice, and yes, sexy vamps of the series.

Elena does learn from Elijah that Klaus is actually his brother, and Elijah was in love with Katherine way back when. So what is it with vampire brothers falling in love with the doppelganger? I sense a theme of moth to flame here, kiddies! Elijah and Elena strike up a new bargain that keeps everyone safe, and as a bonus he tells Elena that she and Bonnie (Katerina Graham) can both live through the ritual that will hopefully kill Klaus.

Oh yeah, and did I forget to mention Klaus is actually a werewolf/vampire hybrid? That’s the curse he wants to break – not content with being a vamp, Klaus also wants to be able to go all furry and create an army of hybrids with world domination in mind I would assume.

Back in the human world, before Klaus body jumped back into his original skin suit, he decided to use Alaric (Matt Davis) to blow the lid off the entire vampire community secret to Elena’s aunt Jenna (Sara Canning). So now that huge mess has exploded in Elena’s face while she’s dealing with an apocalypse. Speaking of Alaric, is he going to live or die? He spoke to Katherine after he had been allowed control of his body again, but then he collapsed. His body has taken quite a beating in the last few episodes, and while I know there were witches keeping him together…did all of the injuries return when Klaus left?

Only three more episodes until the end of this season, and it’s heating up in Mystic Falls kids! I have no idea how or if they’ll be able to wrap up all of the plot threads they have dangling this season, but it’ll be interesting to see which ones find a conclusion.

  1. Klaus, the werewolf it is difficult to present

  2. Why hello Klaus! Joseph Morgan did not disappoint me in the flesh. He is charming & almost sweet looking (that dimple!) which belies his obvious deadliness. I think it was genius to write him with humor & not in your face horror. The “looks can be deceiving” angle is much more interesting to me & I cannot wait to see the havoc he wreaks.
Elijah is back! I have to say I was ambivalent about Elijah in past episodes but he got my attention this week. Not only did he gives us our “WTF” moments with his revelations about a) he & Klaus being brothers (nice tie in to the current Salvatore bro relationship) & b)said crazy ass half brother is a…Say WHAT?!…Hybrid? Nice Kevin & Julie! Very nice indeed. My little brain did not remotely predict either one of those scenarios. I so love being surprised, *satisfied sigh* & writers of TVD never disappoint me.
Elena was especially strong in this episode “I am woman here me ROAR” & I love this. Most likely some of her decisions will come back to haunt her but that is not the point. She is just as capable at coming up with plans as the sexy vamp brothers are, flawed as they may be. I love that she is taking control & not simply being the damsel in distress, and really when has Stefan or Damon’s plans worked 100%? Yep, not so much as that is the TVD way, bless them.
Hallelujah Aunt Jenna is finally in the know! Loved that she saw it 1st hand via “Angry Stefan’s” face. Oh angry Stefan how I’ve missed you…Sarah is an amazing actress & her tears are the bomb. I squealed with delight when I saw the preview of her holding a crossbow. I like the idea of Mr. & Mrs. Saltzman Vampire Hunters!
And Damon, ahhh Damon. I try not to love you EVERY week but Ian you’re just too damn good in this role. I was nearly giddy when I saw the Salvatore Bro Smackdown preview from last week & I love the storyline leading up to it. It’s about damn time the brothers hash their issues out a bit out loud. Good for Stefan for calling Damon out on his Andie slaving and Damon coming back with she keeps me from going after your girl who I really love, BOOM! Punch in the face, is it creepy that Stefan & Damon fighting is sexy? Hmmm…blame Ian & Paul, not me I say.
Reason #323 I love Damon: he makes up his own mind no matter what! He doesn’t care if it’s him against the world, as shown clearly in this episode. With Elena, Elijah & Stefan seemingly all together as a unit to kill Klaus, save Elena & Bonnie…what does Damon do? Tells them all to go hell!
    I. Love. Him. Will Damon’s rogue act blow up in his face? Or will it be the only saving grace when the master plan runs in to some very likely kinks? I can’t wait to find out…I love Elijah but Damon’s instincts are usually spot on so I’d have to go with he’s not telling us all something important.
As usual one my favorite scenes involves Damon’s internal emotional conflict. We can all see his impending explosion brewing & it finally does right in Andie’s face/neck. Although she’s his compel-a-girl rental of the month, she’s strong in her own way. I love the fact that she didn’t leave “you didn’t compel me” & tells Damon that he needs to know she cares. Pretty balsey! In the non-supernatural world Andie might just be a good fit for Damon. Not surprisingly Damon takes his emotional turmoil out on Andie in a very frightening, chomping way. But what is surprising is how he stops, begging & compelling her to leave “before he kills her” Anyone remember frozen Jessica? My previous favorite tortured Damon scene…yeah well he killed her but he let Andie go…very telling on how his character arc has evolved. The grief in his eyes as he makes Andie leave levels me. He is obviously not enjoying his monstrous side in this moment. How does this bad boy vampire continue to break my heart so completely? Well done Ian Somerhalder, well done. This show deserves awards for writing & acting as it’s all stellar.
    Favorite lines:
Klaus to Elijah “Love is a vampire’s greatest weakness”
Katherine to Elijah “true love is not real unless it’s returned”
I missed my favorite supporting cast so I look forward to everyone’s return next week. Let the mayhem begin!

  4. hi i just want to ask that klaus wants to be a warewolf and a vampire at the same time ?? plz answer me . and i realy love vampires and this show so much …

  5. I have mixed feelings about this book. It s pretty enjoyable, and I love reading and rereading it. It s also my favorite from the series cause it’s the most romantic out of them all (imo) and I m a hopeless romantic. However when i analyze it, it isn’t really that good. Most of the characters are pretty interesting/original in some way or another (the lead character, for once, isn’t the shy and insecure freak/loner/etc bella swan, lee fiora, mia thermopolis, bianca from evernight, the list could go on and on forever) and yet they are not enough explored for my taste. stefan is a pretty good character, however, I d probably like him better if he didn t remind me of a watered-down version of the swoony simon from silver kiss (i don’t like edward cullen, btw. his character is too fake?) and the monster-in-me s*** is kind of getting old. damon is my favorite, but he could be so much more. the book feels too short, like things happen too fast. the so-called love triangle that the cover promotes never happens elena is always sure of her love for stefan, at least in this book. Unlike twilight, where there are lots of funny/witty/lovable quotes, this book doesn’t have that type of things it’s more of a serious book. don’t get me wrong, i loved this book on its own right, but a bit more humor and character interaction would have made it even better.

  6. I just read the prompt for the Pilot episode and I’m thoroughly shocked! They are changing it from Elena having a sister of age 4 to having a brother who is only two years younger than her. It’s quite strange to change things so much. Bonnie is no longer a pale redhead but is dark skinned and has dark hair. All these changes seem a little off putting but I am still willing to give it a shot. Everything deserves to be seen at least once right? Other changes that weren’t necessary were Elena’s looks. She is blonde haired and blue eyed in the book now she has brown hair and eyes in the show. My comment about the book series is that they are amazing I read them about ten to twelve years ago but I’m re-reading them and I still love them very much. Though this may sound strange I liked the Secret Circle books more than Vampire Diaries. I hope they make a show out of that series too. Any way I’m rambling, I apologize.
