The case latest CASTLE case starts with a lot of blood – enough that it’s pretty obvious that a stiff is involved. And Det. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) and author Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) are, for the moment, more absorbed in Castle’s daughter’s latest crisis. It seems Alexis (Molly Quinn) is learning the hard way the truth of that great Rolling Stones anthem, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

Things get even more twisted as Beckett and crew eventually track down the body – and it’s in a cryo lab being processed for eventual re-awakening sometime in the distant future when there are cures for things like old age and cancer.

The case has all the usual twists and turns. It just so happens that the victim was a biologist working on implants that could add 10 years to a person’s life – a motive if ever there was one. The porn king suspect bottoms out pretty quickly – the first person in the questioning room almost always does. Castle comes up with a head pun, then that’s left mercifully alone. Oh, and not only do Beckett and Castle go on multiple runs of theory back and forth, Medical Examiner Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones) calls them on it.

We even get a whisper of soft loving looks between Beckett and Castle, gone all too quickly. Which is annoying when you consider November (when I said I wanted to see them in bed or I would vent considerable annoyance) is on the way and those two haven’t done more than blink at each other this season. Couldn’t the writers just turn up the heat a little? Please?

The only other thing marring the episode is the general ick factor of the cryogenics. Bodies in tanks are creepy. Really, really creepy and I hope I’m going to sleep tonight. Of course, that may be a personal thing – I’ve never been good at creepy, but I think this one went a little too far.
