AMERICAN FILM MARKET 2011 kicked off in Santa Monica, CA yesterday for Day 1 of the annual market where foreign and domestic buyers and sellers convene to make deals on past, present and future films.

The star wattage though has gotten even bigger in the last couple of years with director/producer Ron Howard making an appearance this year to promote and raise awareness of his new Formula 1 racing movie RUSH.

Howard appeared with Exclusive Media Group co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair, and Guy East and Cross Creek’s Brian Oliver to talk about the film to potential buyers.

Alex Walton, President of Exclusive Films International, is debuting RUSH to buyers at AFM.

The movie is currently under production and stars THOR‘s Chris Hemsworth and INGLORIOUS BASTERDS‘ Daniel Brühl. It is penned by FROST/NIXON’s Peter Morgan and will be released next year in the U.S. through Universal Pictures.
