TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 6 – “… And Then There Were None”

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Jim Beaver Director: Mike Rohl Writer: Brett Matthews Network: The CW, airs Fridays Original Telecast: March 4, 2011 Well that’s one way to get rid of a host of characters in one fell swoop on SUPERNATURAL. Not only did we lose Gwen (Jessica Heafey) and Samuel (Mitch Pileggi), who had become major characters this season, in “And Then There Were None” we also lost long-time hunter ally in Rufus (Steven Williams) – a fan favorite and someone that had grown to be a quirky yet funny occasional guest star. Eve, whom the monsters […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICAN IDOL – SEASON 10 – “Finalists Chosen”

Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson judge AMERICAN IDOL - Season 10 in the "Finalists Revealed" episode | ©2011 Fox/Frank Micelotta

Cast: Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez Network:  Fox, airs Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Original Telecast: March 3, 2011 Not sure what I can say that I haven’t already said about the Top-24 performance on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL. Over the past two nights in my two reviews, I gave my opinion on who I thought America would choose (not who I want, but who they’d choose) including from the girls: Pia Toscano, Naima Adedapo, Thia Megia, Lauren Alaina and Ashthon Jones. From the boys: Jacob Lusk, James Durbin, Casey Abrams, Scotty McCreery and Stefano Langone. […]Read On »

CD Review: THE YOUNG RIDERS soundtrack (1200 edition)

THE YOUNG RIDERS soundtrack | © 2011 La La Land Records

Whether it’s ROAR or THE CAPE, television has unabashedly turned every big screen hit from BRAVEHEART to BATMAN into show’s whose themes were just discernable enough to avoid legal outrage. Such was the case of this YOUNG GUNS-esque adventure that ran from 1989 to 1992. The concept here was to turn teen outlaws into equally hot Pony Express riders, whose saddles would be filled by the likes of Stephen Baldwin and Josh Brolin. Another growing talent would be John Debney, who was sowing his musical oats on such movie spin-off shows as FAME and POLICE ACADEMY before taking on RIDERS […]Read On »

Time to put up or shut up. Go big or go home. Play ball or sit on the bench. Blow the place out or go down in flames. Can I come up any other clichés? Nope, so I’ll move on. We get the boys, er men first and given the quality we saw in the opening episodes of […]Read On »

Cast: Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Lance Reddick, Jasika Nicole Writers:  Jeff Pinkner, J.H. Wyman, Akiva Goldsman Director: Fred Toye Network: Fox, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: February 25, 2011 When the previews to last week’s FRINGE had us going back in time to when Walter (John Noble) was working with the Cortexiphan kids in Jacksonville, Florida, I was hoping we’d finally get to see it. I wanted to see the point where evil Walter was upon us, the reason why he had William Bell remove parts of his brain and the reason why he was locked away in […]Read On »

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 6 – “The French Mistake”

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in SUPERNATURAL - Season 6 - "The French Mistake" | ©2011 The CW Network/Jack Rowand

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Jim  Beaver Writer: Ben Edlund Director: Charles Beeson Network: The CW, Thursdays at 9 p.m Original Telecast: February 25, 2011 SUPERNATURAL is unique in that it not only has no problem making fun of itself, but it actually lives for it. “The French Mistake” was indeed one of those times where Balthazar sends the Winchester boys to an alternate dimension where Sam (Jared Padalecki) is named Jared Padalecki and Dean (Jensen Ackles) is named Jensen Ackles. Where Misha Collins is just an actor playing Castiel and there are no vampires, werewolves, demons or […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICAN IDOL – SEASON 10 – “Top 24 Chosen”

Kendra Chantelle, Jovani Barreto, Lauren Turner, Casey Abrams, Tatynisa Wilson, James Durbin, Karen Rodriguez, Jacob Lusk, Lauren Alaina, Thia Megia, Scott McCreery, Brett Loewenstern, Pia Toscano and Jordan Dorsey. Bottom row (L-R): Rachel Zevita, Stefano Langone, Paul McDonald, Julie Zorrilla, Tim Halperin, Haley Reinhart, Clint Jun Gamboa, Robbie Rosen, Naima Adedapo and Ashthon Jones are the Top 24 on AMERICAN IDOL - Season 10 | ©2011 Fox

Cast: Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, Ryan Seacrest Network: Fox, airs Wednesdays and Thursdays Original Telecast: February 24, 2010 Holy crap if I have to hear J.Lo say “I can’t do this anymore” on AMERICAN IDOL one more time, I’m seriously going to punch someone. How many times must we see the same clip over and over again? They showed it like 20 times on Wednesday leading up to the actual moment and then for the previews for this episode.  Then we see it again for what seemed to be a dozen times in the beginning. We get it. […]Read On »

Bosley gets an upgrade in new CHARLIE’S ANGELS TV reboot

The pilot for the new CHARLIE’S ANGELS TV reboot is almost underway, and BATTLE: LA actor Ramon Rodriguez revealed yesterday that the role of Bosley, who he will be playing, is going to be completely different from what we’ve seen before. “The mere fact of them casting me, it shows they’re going in a new direction –  with respect to everyone else,” says Rodriguez. “This is a whole new take. This is my version of Bosley.” While he went through actual Boot Camp training to play a soldier in the alien invasion flick BATTLE: LA hitting theaters March 11, he […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICAN IDOL – Season 10 – “Las Vegas Round”

Contestants compete in the Las Vegas round of AMERICAN IDOL by performing Beatles songs on the Cirque du Soleil LOVE stage | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

You have access to the Beatles catalog.

We know. You’ve only shoved it down our throats year-after-year and letting us hear some of our favorite songs of all time get butchered again and again.

Yet, instead of taking a different tack and maybe doing a nice U2 night or an Aerosmith night (I mean come on you have Steven Tyler sitting right there), or a Chicago night, or even a freaking Metallica night, we once again get the Beatles.

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – SEASON 6 – “Mannequin 3: The Reckoning”

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles in SUPERNATURAL | ©2008 The CW

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Misha Collins Writers: Eric. C. Charmelo, Nicole Snyder Director: Jennot Szwarc Network: The CW, airs Fridays Original Telecast: February 18, 2010 I mean really, what other show, besides SUPERNATURAL could get away with the title of this week’s episode of “Mannequin 3: The Reckoning”? I wonder how many viewers of the show, and for the matter readers of this article, realize that MANNEQUIN was a terrible ’80s movie starring Andrew McCarthy and a young Kim Cattrall. It scared the crap out of me. No, not because it is a horror movie (in fact, […]Read On »
