In the 2011 film LIMITLESS, Bradley Cooper played Eddie Morra, an ordinary man who gained extraordinary mental acuity, thanks to NZT, a (fictional) neuro-enhancement drug that lets the human brain access one hundred percent of its power. In the new CBS series LIMITLESS, Tuesdays at 10 PM, Eddie – still played in a recurring role by Cooper, who is one of the series’ executive producers – is now a senator, who is guiding Jake McDorman’s character Brian Lynch, who is enabled by NZT to help the FBI solve crimes. Alex Kurtzman (of FRINGE, TRANSFORMERS and the new STAR TREK films) […]Read On »

Caitriona Balfe stars as Claire in OUTLANDER on Starz | © 2015 Starz

Starz’s OUTLANDER, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling novels, returns for the second half of its first season Saturday, April 4 at 9 PM, not a moment too soon for its many avid viewers. The season break ended with a cliffhanger. Caitriona Balfe’s character Claire, a married World War II English army nurse, accidentally traveled back to eighteenth-century Scotland. There, she meets two men who rapidly become significant to her. One is stalwart young Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, who gallantly marries Claire to prevent her from being arrested by the local representatives of the English Army. The English garrison […]Read On »

CD Review: The Best Scores of 2013 – The Runners-Up

Brian Tyler / NOW YOU SEE ME soundtrack | ©2013 Glassnote

BEYOND TWO SOULS (Lorne Balfe / Sony Entertainment) Though it’s far more of an interactive movie than it is a video game, the negligible level of first-person shooter ability here doesn’t prevent BEYOND TWO SOULS from being a complete immersive experience, especially with the eerie, and rapturous quality of Lorne Balfe’s score, leveled up with the ace technical and musical production oversight of Hans Zimmer. For a heroine seemingly cursed by her lifelong bond to an invisible entity, Balfe conjures a truly beautiful theme, topped with a female voice that resonates with a wounded emotion that binds this powerfully symphonic […]Read On »

CD Review: NOW YOU SEE ME soundtrack

NOW YOU SEE ME soundtrack | ©2013 Glassnote

Few Hollywood composers have nailed the rocking rhythm of the orchestral beat like Brian Tyler, whose action scores for such pictures as EAGLE EYE, FAST AND FURIOUS 6 and two EXPENDABLES are all about thematic propulsion, going like jet engines until they orgasmically plateau. But while Tyler’s the go-to guy for fast cars and muscular mayhem, the composer has rarely had the chance to use his rhythmic sound for a humorous action score, one where no one really gets hurt (though his yeoman work on IRON MAN 3 certainly didn’t lack for comedic riffs). Now Tyler’s testosterone at last gets […]Read On »

Exclusive Photos from the NOW YOU SEE ME Special Screening

Summit Entertainment held a special Los Angeles screening of NOW YOU SEE ME on May 23rd at the ArcLight Hollywood. Although it was just a screening the fans still came out to get autographs and pictures and screamed when they saw the stars. Before the screening while we were all sitting around waiting for the stars to arrive (so upset my camera wasn’t on) Halle Berry and her finance Olivier Martinez had come to the ArcLight to see a movie and were totally taken by surprised with all the press there and fans, so much so that I could see […]Read On »
