This season had some really high points, and some horribly preachy overdone episodes, but all in all I try to just remember the moments that honestly were amazing. Following on the heels of last week’s episode “Funeral” (which was one of BEST episodes of the …Read On »

The Dork Side: The problem with GLEE and its real “agenda”

Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron and Lea Michele in GLEE - Season 2 - "Night of Neglect" | ©2011 Fox/Adam Rose

I like GLEE. I really do, but, I have a problem with it, and I want you to know that I criticize it, because I care. Conservative pundits have been ranting about the supposed gay agenda the show is pushing, which is completely ridiculous. Of course, several media outlets ran with the story even though it’s total crap. There is no gay agenda. It’s just a TV show that treats its gay characters like actual human beings. “Gay people are people, too. Film at 11.” GLEE (which airs its Season 2 finale tonight) does a lot of things right. It …Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Funeral”

Jane Lynch, Jessalyn Golsig, Kent Avenido in GLEE - Season 2 - "Funeral" | ©2011 Fox/Beth Dubber

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ryan Murphy Director:  Bradley Buecker Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 18, 2011 Characters should be the backbone of any TV series. They should move a series forward, they should connect with an audience and there should be some consistency in their actions as well. With GLEE in Season 2, it’s proven to be a topsy-turvy ride character-wise with random motivations, left-field personality switches and a heavy reliance on romantic pairings that …Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Prom Queen”

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ian Brennan Director: Eric Stoltz Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 10, 2011 GLEE seems to have gotten off the preachy wagon and somewhat more on track with this week’s episode “Prom Queen”.  Of course since there are lots of gay themes this week, conservative America led by the sow of the decade Victoria Jackson will consider this episode part of the dreaded “Gay Agenda”. Incidentally, if I could figure out what …Read On »

Exclusive Interview: GLEE star Kevin McHale gets his funk on

Kevin McHale in GLEE - Season 2 | ©2011 Fox/Miranda Penn Turin

Kevin McHale plays the wheelchair bound Artie on the hit Fox series GLEE, and one of the most surprising things about the character and the actor himself is the eclectic group of songs he gets to sing. And in Season 2, he’s also fallen in love and broken up with the show’s ditzy Brittany (Heather Morris). We briefly spoke to the young actor as he discusses his favorite songs, the show’s success and being a role model. ASSIGNMENT X: Are you surprised at how successful the show has become – especially since the first 13 episodes were done in a …Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Rumours”

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ryan Murphy Director: Tim Hunter Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 3, 2011 I’m really not sure where GLEE is heading. I think that’s the one statement that best sums up my feelings of season two. Season One was a really strong start to a very promising series, but once all of the hype died down a bit, and the second season started I kept getting the feeling that the storylines were …Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Born This Way”

Cory Monteith, Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison in GLEE - Season 2 - "Born This Way" |©2011 Fox/Adam Rose

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Brad Falchuk Director: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: April 26, 2011 With the amount of story GLEE chews through in “Born this Way,” it reminds the viewer how necessary it is for this series to gain a little more consistency with doling out story for its core group of characters and actually dig a little deeper than “theme week” every week. That’s not to say that “Born this Way” doesn’t …Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “A Night of Neglect”

With “A Night of Neglect,” this episode clearly feels like something that was hobbled together to fill in the gaps until the series can regroup and figure out what to do before Show …Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Original Song”

Sure there were some revisiting of dangling threads from this seasons various plots, but the emphasis was on the music, and more often than not on the original music for the show. The one …Read On »

Exclusive Interview: GLEE star Heather Morris gets into the groove

Heather Morris in GLEE - Season 2 | ©2010 Fox/Miranda Penn Turin

One of the weekly joys of GLEE is getting a weekly Brittany fix. Each week, the writers give Heather Morris, who plays Brittany, some kind of out-of-left field line that usually proves to be absolutely hilarious. Is Brittany dumb or was she made that way? ASSIGNMENT X caught up with Morris for a few minutes recently to talk about her character, why she loves the opportunity GLEE has afforded her and her own theories into Brittany’s general lack of judgment. ASSIGNMENT X: When did you realize you were getting all the good lines on the show? HEATHER MORRIS: I realized …Read On »
