Rating: R Stars: Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Jesse Plemons, Alfred Molina, Alison Pill, Lily Rabe Writer: Adam McKay Director: Adam McKay Distributor: Annapurna Release Date: December 25, 2018 VICE is writer/director Adam McKay’s biodrama about former U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney. Cheney is played here by Christian Bale, giving a terrific performance in some bravura makeup by Greg Cannom. There’s no arguing with Bale’s work as the quiet, shrewd, manipulative figure, who managed to stay very private even at his most public. The film takes Cheney from a young man in 1963 (about the only point where […]Read On »

Movie Review: PAWN SACRIFICE

PAWN SACRIFICE poster | ©2015 Bleecker Street Media

Rating: PG-13 Stars: Tobey Maguire, Liev Schreiber, Michael Stuhlbarg, Peter Sarsgaard, Lily Rabe, Robin Weigert Writer: Steven Knight, story by Stephen J. Rivele & Christopher Wilkinson and Steven Knight Director: Edward Zwick Distributor: Bleecker Street Media Release Date: September 16, 2015 Chess is not an inherently cinematic game. Couple it with a main character who is actively unlikable, and it sounds like the makings of a movie that is at best hard to watch. Yet PAWN SACRIFICE turns out to be immersive. Directed by Edward Zwick and scripted by Steven Knight from a story by Stephen J. Rivele & Christopher […]Read On »

THE WHISPERS: Milo Ventimiglia goes John Doe for new ABC thriller – exclusive interview

THE WHISPERS logo | ©2015 ABC

In ABC’s THE WHISPERS, Monday nights at 10 PM, someone or something called Drill is making friends with young children and talking them into playing “games” that are murderous. At the same time, a mysterious, amnesiac John Doe, played by Milo Ventimiglia, is admitted to a hospital with no idea of who he is, where he’s been or why there are tattoos all over his body. We have a pretty good notion that he’s really Sean Bennigan, a military pilot whose plane crashed in Africa and whose wife Claire (Lily Rabe) is looking into the incidents of the children who […]Read On »

The Paley Center for Media presented the hit show AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM on March 15th, closing night of the 30th Annual PaleyFest: The William S. Paley Television Festival. Unfortunately some of the stars and the creators chose only to do the panel inside instead of walking into the tent to have their pictures taken and talk to the media. The surprise of the night though was the announcement that Kathy Bates would be in the next season of the series. Walking into the tent were the following stars from the show: Naomi Grossman, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy […]Read On »

The series also […]Read On »

When AMERICAN HORROR STORY ended Season 1, the big twist wasn’t what happened to the characters, it’s what happened to the show. Executive producer and co-creator Ryan Murphy essentially pulled the wool over the viewers eyes and created a TV series that would reboot every year with a new story,  new characters and a new cast. At today’s TCA press tour for the FX Network, John Landgraf, President & General Manager, says that he’s excited by what Murphy is conjuring up for the completely different Season 2. “He really loves to create a new world,” says Landgraf. “You even saw […]Read On »
