Angela Bassett joined AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN last season as the historically real Marie Laveau, who in the show was a powerful and immortal practitioner of magic. This season, Bassett is back as Desiree Dupree, a member of a traveling carnival in AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW, Wednesdays at 10 PM on FX. AMERICAN HORROR STORY was created to be an anthology, with a single story running over thirteen episodes each season, by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The Paley Center for Media presented the hit show AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM on March 15th, closing night of the 30th Annual PaleyFest: The William S. Paley Television Festival. Unfortunately some of the stars and the creators chose only to do the panel inside instead of walking into the tent to have their pictures taken and talk to the media. The surprise of the night though was the announcement that Kathy Bates would be in the next season of the series. Walking into the tent were the following stars from the show: Naomi Grossman, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy …Read On »

When AMERICAN HORROR STORY ended Season 1, the big twist wasn’t what happened to the characters, it’s what happened to the show. Executive producer and co-creator Ryan Murphy essentially pulled the wool over the viewers eyes and created a TV series that would reboot every year with a new story,  new characters and a new cast. At today’s TCA press tour for the FX Network, John Landgraf, President & General Manager, says that he’s excited by what Murphy is conjuring up for the completely different Season 2. “He really loves to create a new world,” says Landgraf. “You even saw …Read On »

Exclusive Interview: AMERICAN HORROR STORY actress Frances Conroy plays housekeeper

Frances Conroy in AMERICAN HORROR STORY - Season 1 | ©2011 FX

In AMERICAN HORROR STORY, which has its first-season finale (it’s been renewed for a second) tonight on FX at 10 PM, some ghosts appear as rotting phantoms and others appear alive and tangible. One ghost, however, is so complex that she’s actually played by two actresses. Frances Conroy is the primary incarnation of perennial housekeeper Moira O’Hara, starchy and generally reserved, but her seductive younger self is played by Alexandra Breckinridge. Which version of Moira we see depends largely on who is looking at her – we realize that protagonist Ben Harmon, played by Dylan McDermott, is starting to wise …Read On »

Exclusive Interview: Denis O’Hare terrorizes AMERICAN HORROR STORY

Denis O'Hare in AMERICAN HORROR STORY - Season 1 - "Halloween Pt. 2" | ©2011 FX/Ray Mickshaw

There are a plenty of ghosts and generally unwholesome entities roaming through FX’s hit AMERICAN HORROR STORY, Wednesdays at 10, but one of the most alarming-looking characters is the still-living Larry Harvey, played by Denis O’Hare. With severe burns over half his face, a fire-crippled body and a sightless eye, Larry’s appearance isn’t half as frightening as his personality – he’s a man who can justify anything if it suits his ego or his appetites. This isn’t O’Hare’s first brush with TV genre fame – he was also the vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington, in Season Three of HBO’s …Read On »
