The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) held their annual Installation Luncheon on August 13th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This luncheon is to introduce the new officers and directors and the HFPA presented $1.6 million dollars in financial grants to film schools and non-profits and scholarship programs due to the success of the Golden Globes in January of this year. Theo Kingma, the new President of the HFPA welcomed the guests and announced the 2013 grant recipients. Eva Longoria was the emcee for this year’s luncheon. On March 15th Barnes and Noble held a book signing with Stephenie Meyer for her new book THE HOST, which opens as a movie on March 29th nationwide. Fans lined up from the early morning hours and the line went through Barnes and Noble through The Grove and around the corner where the American Girl Store is and ended in front of the Wood Ranch Restaurant. It was quite a sight to see! Besides Stephenie Meyer, stars from the film Max Irons, Diane Kruger and Jake Abel joined in the signing. Open Road Films held the World Premiere for THE HOST on March 19th at the ArcLight Hollywood Cinerama Dome. Fans were across from where I shot, and on risers and over by the door of the theatre. Subway gave sandwiches out to all the media, fans, stars and everyone else that walked the carpet. T-shirts were handed out to the fans as they waited patiently to get a picture with their favorites and an autograph.
