McNally, James Patrick Stuart Writer: Robbie Thompson, series created by Eric Kripke Director: John MacCarthy Network: The CW, Fridays @ 9 PM Original Telecast: April 27, 2012 SUPERNATURAL has been criticized a time or two for its female characters. For that matter, it sometimes struggles with introducing any new good guys – we wait impatiently for one or more of the regulars to show up. “The Girl With the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo” suggests what may have been wrong with previous efforts with such characters – they weren’t played …Read On »

Anyone remember them taking this many breaks in past seasons? McQueen). Not that Mystic Falls has had a …Read On »

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Rebecca Sonnenshine, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: Lance Anderson   Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: March 22, 2012 Hmmm, two episodes back in and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES still doesn’t feel like it’s quite up to its potential. This series has been one of my favorite guilty pleasures for a couple of years, but following on the heels of the original vamp storyline this season, it seems that the writers are at a loss as to what to do next (besides bodily harm to Alaric (Matt Davis). So …Read On »

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder Writer: Julie Plec & Elisabeth Finch, Based on the book by L.J. Smith Director: John Behring  Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: March 15, 2012 THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has a habit of giving audiences slam bang endings when they take breaks, and really strong episodes to kick off the show when it returns. That is why the return from a break episode “1912” is so perplexing to me. It just wasn’t good. It was boring, and there was little or nothing going on besides a few minor revelations that really don’t …Read On »

GAME CHANGE is an apt title for what happened in the 2008 election when John McCain, the Republican nominee for President of the United States of America, selected then-Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin as his running mate. Even people who see eye to eye on nothing else can agree that what followed was not quite like anything else that had ever happened on the national stage. The book GAME CHANGE by Time Magazine editor-in-chief Mark Halperin and political journalist John Heilemann encompasses the entire 2008 election, including the Democratic contest between then-Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
