One of the biggest time bomb revelations over the last couple of days, was the news that THE WALKING DEAD executive producer Frank Darabont (and the person instrumental to bringing it to the small screen on AMC) had abruptly left the series in the middle of Season 2. This, of course, was after he appeared at Comic-Con over the weekend promoting the show as if nothing was amiss. At today’s TCA Summer session with AMC, naturally questions turned to his exit and the details behind it. Joel Stillerman, AMC’s Senior Vice President of Original Programming, Production, and Digital Content didn’t […]Read On »

TV Review: THE WALKING DEAD – Season 1 – “TS-19”

In the action-packed season finale of THE WALKING DEAD, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group have found a temporary haven at the CDC, where Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich) is the lone survivor of the team that was attempting to find an answer to the horrific plague or…whatever it is…that turned the world into a zombie nightmare. Hot water and chilled wine offer a temporary respite from terror, but really folks, this is the last episode – how happy an ending do you think this is going to be?

TV Review: THE WALKING DEAD – Season 1 – “Wildfire”

In the penultimate episode of THE WALKING DEAD, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) leads the survivors on a desperate odyssey back into the lions’ – well, zombies’ – den, as they head for the Center for Disease Control and possible salvation for the now-infected Jim (Andrew Rothenberg). It seems impossible that anyone could have made it through the collapse of the city, and yet deep beneath the streets one lone scientist (Noah Emmerich) on the brink of insanity may be all that stands between our heroes and a more horrific end to their journey.

In the latest episode of AMC’s great new zombie series THE WALKING DEAD, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) takes a team back to the city to check on Merle and retrieve that desperately-needed bag of guns while the rest of the camp reacts to Jim’s strange grave-digging behavior. Has the man become a prophet, dreaming of death amongst the survivors, and if so, who in their little party will suffer a horrible fate before the day is out? And is Rick really just like a certain whip-wielding archaeologist, incomplete without his trusty hat? “Vatos” inevitably draws added scrutiny as it’s the single […]Read On »

TV Review: THE WALKING DEAD – Season 1 – “Tell It To The Frogs”

With two new vehicles and one less racist, the team that braved the zombie-clogged Atlanta streets returns to the survivors’ camp in the powerful third episode of THE WALKING DEAD, “Tell It To The Frogs.” The most significant development is Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) long-awaited reunion with wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies),  son Carl (Chandler Riggs), and best friend Shane (Jon Bernthal). That’s Shane, the man that replaced Rick as Carl’s father figure and Lori’s lover in addition to ruling over the fearful fiefdom that serves as our microcosm of human society. Now that Rick is back, what will happen to […]Read On »

TV Review: THE WALKING DEAD – SEASON 1 – “Days Gone By” – Season Premiere

© 2010 AMC | Zombies in THE WALKING DEAD - SEASON ONE - "Days Gone By"

Stars: Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Lennie James, Emma Bell, Jeffrey DeMunn Writer: Frank Darabont based on the graphic novel by Robert Kirkman Director: Frank Darabont Network: AMC, airs Sunday nights Original Telecast: October 31, 2010 Forgive me for my obvious lack of judgment, but ten years ago, I had a conversation with someone about how zombies were not mainstream enough and no studio would even consider releasing a zombie movie as a major release. How wrong was I? From the uber-successful DAWN OF THE DEAD remake, the RESIDENT EVIL franchise,  28 DAYS LATER and so […]Read On »
