Now in its sixth season, BONES (which airs Thursday nights) has proved a reliable hit for Fox. Based on books by Kathy Reichs, the show is a combination of detective procedural and romantic comedy/drama. Emily Deschanel plays Temperance “Bones” Brennan, an internationally revered forensic anthropologist who could give Mr. Spock lessons in logical detachment. Her interactions with her crime-solving partner, David Boreanaz’s emotion-based Seeley Booth, form the backbone of the show. Lately, Brennan has been getting more in touch with her feelings. Although she rejected Booth’s suggestion that they pair up personally at the end of Season Five, this year, […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICAN IDOL – SEASON 10 – New Jersey Auditions – Season Premiere

Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson in AMERICAN IDOL - Season 10 - New York/New Jersey Auditions | &copy 2011 Fox/Michael Becker

Was it as odd for you as it was for me watching Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez judge a bunch of normal (and lame) every day people on a reality show last night during the opening episode of AMERICAN IDOL? Both have had good and long careers in the music field in the case of Tyler, and movies and music in the case of J.Lo. So seeing them reduced to doing AI just didn’t seem right. And, yes, I used the word reduced. Make no mistake about it. You can sugar coat it, you can talk about how great of […]Read On »

While speaking at today’s Fox Winter TCA tour in Pasadena, CA, AMERICAN IDOL executive producer Nigel Lythgoe explained how the show will help its contestants this year with the new judges and new in-house mentor Jimmy Iovine. “It’s giving the right information to the contestants, so they continue with their journey as an artist,” says Lythgoe. “It’s a lot more searching for that eventual winner, rather than stopping people from getting there. In the past, we may have been accused of putting barriers against them with glib remarks, instead of helping them through the process. At the end of the […]Read On »

Jennifer Lopez in AMERICAN IDOL - Season 10 | ©2011 Fox/Tony Duran

While speaking at today’s Fox Winter TCA tour in Pasadena, CA, Lopez admits she wanted to help up and comers. “In this business where I’ve learned a lot of things, I thought about where else I could put [this experience] to good use and help other artists,” Lopez admits. “We’re not here to break people down, we’re here to help kids move through it. At the end of the day, America is voting. We’re […]Read On »

We’re still rocking big time. We have one more album for Sony and we’re working on it at the end of January. We’re starting to write songs. We booked a tour for November and December. While speaking at today’s Fox Winter TCA tour in Pasadena, CA, the AMERICAN IDOL judges and executive producers spoke about what Season 10 will be like. The big question, judge Randy Jackson says, has been who of the judges (Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and himself) are going to be the mean one like former judge Simon Cowell. “I’ve heard a lot of talk of who is going to be the tough one or the mean one,” says Jackson. “You still hear that from all three of us. We give them a full read. If it’s terrible, it’s terrible.” Jackson says […]Read On »
