While AMERICA’S GOT TALENT has proven to be a perennial summer favorite on NBC in the summer, the ratings have not been as strong as they have been in summer’s past and at today’s NBCUniversal Summer 2012 Press Tour, this decline was discussed. “The show is still number one and likely to end the summer as the number one show this summer,” says Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment President of Alternative and Late Night Programming. “I think that we debate frequently the ratings of all our shows and as we discuss AGT this summer, we look at what we’ve asked of […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICA’S GOT TALENT – Season 7 – “St. Louis Auditions”

It’s no secret that Nick Cannon is part of the allure of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT. Sometimes, he’s the best part of the show. When Cannon jumps on stage to rescue a failing or three-time buzzed act he immediately makes the act worth watching. Case in point, during the “St. Louis Auditions” when a voice-over wannabe didn’t cut it with the judges, Cannon appointed him his deputy narrator and let him take on some of his hosting tasks. Not one to be threatened, Cannon graciously allowed his protegé (Ron Porter, Jr.) to hone in on his territory. Now that’s class. Sadly, […]Read On »

The judges – Howie Mandel, Sharon Osbourne and the newly crowned king of all judges Howard Stern all […]Read On »

With famed host and producer Dick Clark passing away today at age 82 of a heart attack, the news reverberated throughout the NBCUniversal Summer Press Day 2012 with AMERICA’S GOT TALENT judges Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel chiming in about their feelings on the legendary Clark. “I sat with Dick at a wedding and he was absolutely the best company and such a gentleman,” says Osbourne. “People like him don’t exist in the industry anymore. He’s irreplaceable.” For Mandel, he used Clark as inspiration for managing the ups and downs of this business. “I always looked up to him as […]Read On »

With Howard Stern set to take over for Piers Morgan on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT this summer, NBC has been taken to task by the Parents Television Council (PTC) for this decision, worried that Stern will tarnish the show’s family-friendly image. However, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt at today’s NBC TCA press tour says he’s not worried by Stern and his previous Shock Jock antics at all and thinks he will make a great addition to the hit summer franchise. “I’m not worried a bit,” says Greenblatt. “Aside from his radio personality, he’s a very thoughtful and intelligent person. He’s a […]Read On »

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Recap: “Final Four” – Results Show – And The Winner Is…

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Season Six is over! Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. is the official winner of AGT Season Six. With a huge parade of acts performing tonight so much was going on at times I forgot why we were there. Def Leppard, One Republic, and Jackie Evancho all sang their hearts out in a prelude to the big announcement. Def Leppard certainly proved that they are still one of the best heavy metal bands of all time. Rock on! Ironically, when the final four acts got the chance to perform with their favorite famous counterparts during the season finale, they […]Read On »

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’s finals are finished! It’s all over. And now America will chose the winner of AGT Season Six. The last four acts have completed their AGT journey and now all they can do is wait ‘til tomorrow to see the results. Their destiny awaits them, although there is a really good chance that all four acts will win. Not necessarily the coveted AGT award, but an award to a fruitful and rewarding future of doing what they already do so very, very well. Sadly, it looks as though PopLyfe will be counting on just that tomorrow night. Their […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICA’S GOT TALENT – Season 6 – “Minneapolis Auditions”

Howie Mandel in AMERICA'S GOT TALENT - Season 6 | ©2011 NBC/Chris Haston

Network: NBC, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: June 8, 2011 At first it seems like another joke Howie Mandel is playing on Piers Morgan. AMERICA’S GOT TALENT is about to start and there is no Morgan anywhere. Maybe Mandel has locked him in his dressing room? Or perhaps he gave him the wrong directions to the theater. Nope, none of that, but wouldn’t that have been hilarious? Well, not to Morgan I suppose, instead the truth is because of bad weather Morgan’s flight was delayed from New York and he wasn’t able to make the start of the show. As […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICA’S GOT TALENT – Season 6 premiere – “Audition Show #1”

Piers Morgan, Nick Cannon, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel in AMERICA'S GOT TALENT - Season 6 | ©2011 NBC/Trae Patton

Network: NBC, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 31, 2011 It’s Season six of the glorified THE GONG SHOW now called AMERICA’S GOT TALENT and it hasn’t gotten any better from the first time I watched it five seasons ago. It still is painfully droll and boring. Most of the “so called” talent is lame and, just like AMERICAN IDOL, simply there for shock purposes in these early audition rounds  – in other words it’s so bad it’s good. The only problem – you have to find this kind of TV programming to find this kind of a train wreck […]Read On »
