Stars: Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne Writer: Daniel Sinclair Director: Toby Wilkins Network: MTV, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: June 20, 2011 Only four episodes in and TEEN WOLF is leaving you wanting to more, which is a good thing since the latest episode “Magic Bullet” is heavy on establishing additional back story on the Argent family as a group of ruthless werewolf Hunters (but Hunters with a code). It also throws in some weird mumbo jumbo on a magic bullet (not a silver bullet, a magic bullet) that […]Read On »

Moon Bloodgood in FALLING SKIES - Season 1 | ©2011 TNT/Ken Woroner

Stars: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Connor Jessup, Sechelle Gabriel, Mpho Koaho, Peter Shinkoda, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Sanguin Carter Writer: Graham Yost Director: Greg Beeman Network: TNT, Sunday nights Original Telecast: June 19, 2011 The second part of the two-part FALLING SKIES series premiere kicks into gear with “The Armory”, a solid episode that I would say is even better than the first hour. With a lot of the exposition out of the way, the show now gets into a groove showing the pitfalls and dangers about living with an alien overlord over your […]Read On »

Stars: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Connor Jessup, Sechelle Gabriel, Mpho Koaho, Peter Shinkoda, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Sanguin Carter Writer: Robert Rodat Director: Carl Franklin Network: TNT, Sunday nights Original Telecast: June 19, 2011 There have been so many alien invasion flicks and TV series that have dealt with the alien invasion theme, that adding another one into the mix almost seems redundant. What else can be added, that we haven’t already seen done before – and better? Still, the new TNT series FALLING SKIES hopes to stake out its own special place in […]Read On »

Breaking News: SOUTH PARK isn’t over according to Trey Parker

SOUTH PARK creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker | ©Comedy Central

Many SOUTH PARK fans were a bit perplexed and concerned by Season 15’s spring finale “You’re Getting Old” which featured Stan turning into a “cynical ***hole” on his tenth birthday and ending with the divorce of his parents. Many thought this was the end of SOUTH PARK as we know it – and considering creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were Broadway sensations with BOOK OF MORMON (and took home a slew of Tony’s last week too), there could have been some truth to this. However, not only did both Parker and Stone thank SOUTH PARK fans upon accepting their […]Read On »

Stars: Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman Writer: Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders Director: Jeannot Szwarc Network: The CW, airs Friday nights Original Telecast:  October 15, 2010 EDITOR’S NOTE: Even though SMALLVILLE is over, ASSIGNMENT X missed a few episodes during Season 10 and will be filling in the reviews during the summer as The CW re-airs the show. The 200th episode of SMALLVILLE arrives with a very fitting story – tracing Clark Kent’s past, present and future in a sort of superhero version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL by way of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE. “Homecoming” features a […]Read On »

TV Review: LOVE BITES – “Keep on Truckin’”

Becki Newton in LOVE BITES | ©2011 NBC/Chris Haston

Stars: Becki Newton, Greg Grunberg, Constance Zimmer Writers: Tracy Poust, Jon Kinnally & David Feeney (“Goodbye Boob,” “Cutlets”), Larry Wilmore & Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (“Ninja Vanish”) Directors: John Scott (“Goodbye Boob,” “Cutlets”), Marc Buckland (“Ninja Vanish”) Network: NBC, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: June 16, 2011 It’s taken two weeks, but the initially dreadful LOVE BITES has grown, just two episodes in, into something quite watchable and sort of entertaining. Yes, you heard me say it – the show is getting better and is attempting to take its love connection stories and actually striving for something a little more complicated, slightly […]Read On »

TV Review: THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING – Season 1 premiere – “Pilot”

Skyler Samuels in THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING - Season 1 | ©2011 ABC Family/Andrew Eccles

Stars: Skyler Samuels, Amy Peitz, Grey Damon, Grace Phipps, Benjamin Stone, Alyssa Diaz, Ki Hong Lee Writer: Dan Berendsen based on the novels by Liz Braswell Director: Wendey Stanzler Network: ABC Family, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: June 14, 2011 After sort of suffering through the premiere episode of THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING, I’m still a bit confused as to what exactly to think. So many shows have aspired to be the new generation’s BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and so many of them have failed. MTV’s recent TEEN WOLF comes close to the wit and charm of the […]Read On »

TV Review: THE VOICE – Season 1 – “Live Show, Quarter-Finals 2”

Tori and Taylor Thompson perform on THE VOICE - Season 1 - "Live Show, Quarter-Finals 2" | ©2011 NBC/Lewis Jacobs

Network: NBC, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: June 14, 2011 I have so many mixed feelings about THE VOICE, that I’m still unsure whether I like how they’re trying to shake up the traditional AMERICAN IDOL formula or if they’re doing a disservice to the singers for not letting the show play out a little longer so audiences can get used to the contestants more. Either way, “Live Show, Quarter-Finals 2” is here and we not only saw four singers go home (two from Team Blake Shelton, two from Team Christina Aguilera), but Team Adam Levine and Team Cee Lo […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICA’S GOT TALENT – Season 6 – “Seattle Auditions 2”

Piers Morgan, Nick Cannon, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel in AMERICA'S GOT TALENT - Season 6 | ©2011 NBC/Trae Patton

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’s second time around in Seattle almost turned into a complete bust. Act after act disappointed not only the judges and the live audience but likely those watching at home as well. No one seemed worthy of a trip to Vegas, certainly not the “self proclaimed” world record holder of blowing up water bottles – his act was a complete bust. Buffo the priest didn’t hold up much better with his illusionist act, nor did “Kimo presents Madonna” – don’t ask. Don’t these people have friends to tell them not to go on TV and make fools of […]Read On »
