When A&E announced they were going to do a PSYCHO prequel series called BATES MOTEL, it was questionable whether such an iconic character could be reinvented once again (anyone remember the 1998 Gus Van Sant shot-for-shot remake?) News: DALLAS will deal with the death of Larry Hagman on the series – TCA 2013

When Larry Hagman passed away last month during the middle of shooting Season 2 of DALLAS, “what would happen to J.R. Ewing” was the big question for fans of the series. The BBC has released a new publicity photograph of Matt Smith as the Doctor sporting a considerably darker (and perhaps even more ‘Doctorish?’) outfit. The picture provides a sneak peek of this year’s DOCTOR WHO Christmas special. A prequel to the special will air as part of this Friday’s CHILDREN IN NEED live charity event on BBC One sometime around the 8:30-9:00pm slot. A trailer for the special itself, which will see the Doctor meeting his new companion played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, will accompany the prequel. Breaking News: BBC America remakes THE MUSKETEERS as a 10-episode series to air in 2014 – TCA 2012

At today’s TCA Cable Press Tour, BBC America announced they will be embarking on a co-production with BBC One of MUSKETEERS – a new series written by Adrian Hodges (PRIMEVAL, SURVIVORS). The series will debut in 2014 and is inspired by the classic Alexandre Dumas novel THE THREE MUSKETEERS. Although set in the 17th Century, the series will bring a more contemporary and realistic take on the story of a “trained band of brothers who are assigned to protect King and country” as the press release says. TCA 2012 News: Showtime talks about its CONQUEST series with director Ron Howard

While director Ron Howard has been interested in television for awhile (his shelved adaptation of Stephen King’s THE DARK TOWER was to span both movies and a TV series), he’s now moving his attention to helm a new Showtime series called CONQUEST. To be written by Jose Rivera the series will focus on Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes and his battles with Aztec empire ruler Moctezuma II.
