COMMUNITY star Donald Glover weighs in on new SPIDER-MAN 4 photo

While everyone else was talking TV at NBC’s Winter TCA press tour in Pasadena, CA, geekdom was weighing in on the first photo released from the new untitled SPIDER-MAN 4 movie starring Andrew Garfield. Naturally, the cast of the geek-centric NBC comedy COMMUNITY chimed in on the photo during the session. TCA 2011: PHINEAS AND FERB feature film in the works at Disney

Big news for PHINEAS AND FERB fans. At today’s Winter TCA press tour in Pasadena, CA, Gary Marsh, President of Entertainment and Chief Creative officer of Disney Channel Worldwide revealed that a PHINEAS AND FERB theatrical feature film is being developed at Walt Disney Studios. “This is in the early stages, but [Walt Disney Pictures is developing a] theatrical feature,” says Marsh. “It will be live action and animation and will also involve the creators Jeff “Swampy” Marsh and Dan Povenmire.” This is on the heels of PHINEAS AND FERB being the most successful animated series for Tweens three years …Read On »

Breaking News: Elijah Wood returns to the Shire for THE HOBBIT

Cool news on the movie front today – it’s official that Elijah Wood will be returning to the Shire and appear in the two-film Peter Jackson directed THE HOBBIT as Frodo Baggins, a role he originated in the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. Ironically, Frodo doesn’t appear in THE HOBBIT books, but I’m sure Jackson has a logical way of incorporating him into the universe. Expect more news of other returning RINGS actors in the coming weeks.

Breaking News: New PEE-WEE HERMAN movie will be a road picture

While promoting his forthcoming HBO special of his Broadway show THE PEE-WEE HERMAN SHOW ON BROADWAY at today’s Winter TCA session for HBO, Paul Reubans, aka Pee-wee Herman, revealed some information about the new Pee-Wee Herman movie that he’s writing. “Judd Apatow is producing and I’ve been working with a writer named Paul Rust and we just turned in the first act during the first week of Christmas,” says Pee-wee, who says writing will commence on the script once they’re done with the special. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced 10 scientific and technical achievement winners to be honored with Academy Awards this year. Popular British character actor Pete Postlethwaite, who was recently seen in the Ben Affleck directed drama THE TOWN, CLASH OF THE TITANS and INCEPTION, passed away over the weekend at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer. Postlethwaite performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as becoming a solid character performer in numerous films over the years, but it was his role in the Jim Sheridan directed IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER that garnered the notice of Hollywood in 1993 and the actor has been working non-stop ever since. Actress Anne Francis passed away at the age of 80 over this weekend after a battle with lung cancer. Best known for her role in the classic 1950’s science-fiction film FORBIDDEN PLANET, Francis also appeared on TV in the private detective series HONEY WEST. In PLANET, Francis played Altaira, one of two surviving humans on a mysterious planet and has admitted in interviews no one ever expected that science-fiction film to have the longevity it did.
