Columbia Pictures held the premiere of THE GREEN HORNET recently at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The green carpet had the symbol of the GREEN HORNET on it and at my end they had the motorcycle Kato (Jay Chou) rides in the film. Seen walking the carpet were the stars of the film, which included: Seth Rogan (Britt Reid/The Green Hornet/Executive Producer/Writer), Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz (Lenore), Edward James Olmos (Axeford), David Harbour (Scanion), Chad Coleman (Chili), Jamie Harris (Popeye), Edward Furlong (Tupper), Michel Gondry (Director), and Evan Goldberg (Executive Producer/Writer). Joining them were guests, which included: Nicole Dabeau, […]Read On »

Profile: THE GREEN HORNET’s Seth Rogen goes from Superbad to superhero

The last person you’d be expecting to star in a superhero movie would be comedian Seth Rogen. And the last person you would expect to be co-writing a superhero movie (with writing partner Evan Goldberg) would be Rogen too. Yet, on Friday, Rogen will make his superhero debut with THE GREEN HORNET, playing the iconic green-masked hero from the old radio serials who is given a modern-day facelift with comedy and crazy action. Think of it as SUPERBAD meets superheroes as Rogen plays Brit Reid, a wayward playboy and heir to his father’s newspaper empire. Realizing he wants to do […]Read On »

Will there be a GREEN HORNET 2?

While promoting his new superhero comedy THE GREEN HORNET today at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City, CA, star and co-writer Seth Rogen admits that he and fellow writer Evan Goldberg weren’t thinking beyond the first movie while making this revisionist super hero tale. “We’re not the kind of writers to save ideas,” says Rogen with his trademark laugh who plays the titular character – a hero who poses as a villain to take a bite out of Los Angeles crime with his dutiful (and more than able sidekick) Kato (Jay Chou). “If it’s remotely good we shoved it […]Read On »

CD Review: GREEN LANTERN original soundtrack

GREEN LANTERN soundtrack | ©2011 Watertower Music

Not only does this summer stand as having the some of the strongest superhero movies in memory row, but also for having two of those pictures feature characters who were likely voted most impossible to pull off for live action. First there was the mystical might of the Marvel god THOR, whose Asgardian grandeur was impressively hammered in by Patrick Doyle with a symphonic/ percussive score that virtually rebooted Doyle’s old-school orchestral sound to new levels of young Hollywood hipness. Then in the DC corner, there’s the GREEN LANTERN, Earth’s recruit to a legion of space cops who make the […]Read On »

The Dork Side: Live Nude Girls – Blake Lively edition

Why do celebrities keep taking naked photos of themselves? They know they are going to get leaked on to the Internet, right? Considering how many celebrities’ naked photos and sex tapes have been “leaked,” why even risk it? “Yes, I know it happens to celebrities all the time, but it won’t happen to me [click].” I don’t take naked photos of myself for fear that they would be leaked on to the Internet, and I’m not famous, and no one wants to see me naked. If someone other than my husband wants to see me naked then they are going […]Read On »

CD Review: LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN soundtrack

LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN soundtrack | ©2013 Kritzerland Records

Kritzerland has become the most passionate soundtrack label when it comes to releasing soundtracks from Hollywood’s golden age – the kind of symphonically lush studio system scoring arguably best personified by Alfred Newman. While their magnificent re-mastering of Newman’s HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY will play to more sentimental tastes, fans who appreciate Newman’s less-utilized, if just as formidable talent for film noir will get their Technicolor kicks out of 1947s LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN, in which Gene Tierney, the object of a detective’s obsession in LAURA (whose iconic David Raksin score was just an instant Kritzerland sell-out) gets to […]Read On »
