Drinking…lots of it fills South Fork as murder and mayhem plague the Ewing family on DALLAS. In “False Confessions,” Bobby (Patrick Duffy) takes the fall for Annie (Brenda Strong) while Cliff Barnes’ adopted son Frank betrays him and plays nice with Barnes arch nemesis J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman). Meanwhile, John Ross (Josh Henderson) lets his emotions for Pamela Barnes get the best of him and he goes behind his daddy’s back too. Maybe if Cliff Barnes and J.R. Ewing had better parented their kids they wouldn’t grow up to stab them in the back… you think?

So, two murder confessions by two innocent people in one episode, it doesn’t get heavier than that. J.R., as hard ass as he is, won’t allow anyone to steamroll his baby brother. He goes to his aid to see how he can help Bobby beat this attempted murder wrap while he vigorously plots against Pamela Barnes and her Pop. Unfortunately, he is so busy worrying about others he doesn’t even see that his own son is cavorting with the enemy.

The episode plays out a little heavy handed this week. Never mind many lapses of logic and such, you’d have to outsmart the entire Dallas police department within a minutes notice if we are to believe the acts of Mr. Barnes this time. Still, the suspense is there and the ever changing plot twists and the frequent drama that inhabits dear old South Fork keeps the momentum up, even though reality takes a slight dive. The police show up so much at the ranch that one wonders… can any family really get into this much trouble? Maybe, in a world where J.R. is king!
