The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) held their annual Installation Luncheon on August 13th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This luncheon is to introduce the new officers and directors and the HFPA presented $1.6 million dollars in financial grants to film schools and non-profits and scholarship programs due to the success of the Golden Globes in January of this year.

Theo Kingma, the new President of the HFPA welcomed the guests and announced the 2013 grant recipients. Eva Longoria was the emcee for this year’s luncheon.

The grants were accepted by a list of star-studded actors, which included:

Nicole Kidman (The Film Foundation),

Everyone walked into the room where the press were except for Vin Diesel, David O’ Russell and Vince Vaughn, who arrived after we had all left. Jason Bateman arrived early, but did not stop in the room to have his picture taken.

The HFPA was founded in the 1940s During World War II with just handful of LA based overseas journalists who sought to bridge the international community with Hollywood and provided a distraction from the hardships of war through film. The Golden Globes is the third most watched award show on television, put on by the HFPA.
