Well, that was the shortest plot thread in the history of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES plot threads, now wasn’t it kids? By plot thread I am of course referencing the plot where Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and all of his siblings are tied together by their resurrected witch of a mother Esther (Alice Evans), so she can make them mortal and then kill them off. Sad that it only lasted two episodes. I mean I’m sure that Esther will have other plots down the road, but this just seemed like an awfully quick abortive attempt to show that the original vampires are still vulnerable if you have the right tools.

“All My Children” is a good episode of the show, and a strong example of how to balance a cast as huge as this, and still make some kind of time for everyone on screen. Starting with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and his poor taste in bed partners Rebekah (Claire Holt) being discovered by Elena (Nina Dobrev) when she comes to check on the brothers Salvatore. Honestly, Rebekah got off lightly. Her walk of shame is so very short as to be only a couple of steps. Most walks of shame take the entire way home. Of course she does get razzed by her brothers once she gets there.

So yeah once again the Bennett witches, Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and her mother Abby (Persia White), get the crappy end of the stick. I realize that they can’t help but try to do all they can to end Klaus and his form of virulent evil, but Bonnie should realize that these things never end well for her. She’s lost her grandmother in past interactions with vampires, men that she’s been in love with, and now her mother (who she is just getting to know) is a bloodsucker. Awesome. I can’t blame her for not wanting to see Elena. I mean, everything happens to everyone one around Elena because she’s so dammed special that she can’t be touched.

Alaric (Matthew Davis) once again puts in monumental additions to the plot in this episode. Oh wait. No he doesn’t. He has some phone conversations, and is a tiny part of a plot to stop the original vamps, which of course ends up with him wounded. AGAIN. Can’t the writers come up with anything more creative to do with this guy? He used to be a real character, not just a human punching bag that any supernatural critter could smash up (of course he always heals because of his ring). Speaking of…should I venture a guess that his is six feet under now? Having discovered that his new girlfriend, Dr. Fell (Torrey DeVitto) is actually a psycho killer. Bang. She’s not supernatural Alaric so its curtains for you unless you are smart enough to duck and run.

Oh yeah, so nothing really happens with the curse by the way. It all goes to hell and Damon makes himself the bad guy by killing Bonnie’s mom and turning her. All of this is done out of that ‘noble’ streak he has so that Stefan (Paul Wesley) can get back with Elena and not have this added new layer of blech on top of everything else he’s done. Yippie. Thanks a lot Damon for making yourself less of a contender. Boo you whore.
