While walking the red carpet for the premiere screening of the new Morgan Spurlock directed documentary COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN’S HOPE, ASSIGNMENT X nabbed a few minutes with Robert Kirkman, creator of THE WALKING DEAD comic book series  and one of the executive producers of the AMC TV series version.

Here’s what he had to say about the movie and some teases about THE WALKING DEAD Season 3.

ASSIGNMENT X: Is there anything you can tease us about Season Three of THE WALKING DEAD?

ROBERT KIRKMAN: I can say that Season Three is going to be awesome. I can say that we know that the Governor is going to be in it, Michonne is going to be in it, the prison – these are all things that people are aware of and I think that anyone who’s aware of the comic book series knows the kind of stories that we tell with those characters. Those are the kinds of stories that we’re going to in the show and I think it’s going to be really intense.

AX: Do you think THE WALKING DEAD would have been quite such a hit without the existence of gatherings like Comic-Con?

KIRKMAN: I think Comic-Con has really put an intense focus on this kind of material and has really opened people’s eyes to different genres and how cool this kind of stuff can be, and so I don’t think it would be as popular if it wasn’t for this stuff. I think this has brought a lot of eyes to this kind of material.

AX: Have you seen COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN’S HOPE before tonight?

KIRKMAN: No, I have not. But I hear it’s great, so I’m very excited.

AX: What are you hoping it will reflect of the Comic-Con experience as you know it?

KIRKMAN: I’m hoping that it will reflect an honest experience of Comic-Con. I think that too often, the mass media tries to portray Comic-Con as kind of a troll-fest or whatever they want to say. And [Comic-Con is actually] good people, it’s a great pop culture environment and it’s a big celebration of everything comics. I want to see that in the movie, and I think that’s what we’re going to get.
