It’s rare for a network to come up with a successful scripted series in the summer, but ABC has managed to groom the series ROOKIE BLUE into a solid hit now that it’s in its third season.
ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee, while speaking at today’s 2012 Summer Press Tour, sees the series as an important show, but hasn’t made a decision if it should be programmed during the regular Broadcast season.
“ROOKIE BLUE is such a great player for us, and it came out in the summer,” says Lee. “It wasn’t one that was trumpeted. It wasn’t put through the various obstacles of Upfronts and now it’s an incredibly valuable asset to us. We have not made a decision to put it in the season. We think it is a really strong player for us, and we are actually looking for next summer to do more [series] like that.”
ROOKIE BLUE airs Thursday nights on ABC
