It was an hour long elimination that should have been 15 minutes on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL.

Well I lost the pool on when J.Lo would first sell herself out on IDOL during Season 11. I figured it was going to be a music video … instead it was a music video of an advertisement for one of her products. The other came nearly immediately after with a make-up ad featuring J.Lo. They also plugged her television show after a break. Damn slow down girl, it is a long season.

So who went home? Well it isn’t a secret that Jeremy Rosado went home and that Elise Testone was in the bottom 2.

I’ll spare you all of the lousy group numbers, a decent performance from Mary J. Blige, the needless and unnecessary drama, a so-so performance from Lauren Alaina the unwitty banter from the judges and Seacrest, the obligatory Ford commercial and get to how it went down.

Seacrest first pulled down Jessica Sanchez, Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanaugh for judgment. Well this is a no-brainer. Hollie and Elise were the best of them all last night, so Elise is indeed in trouble as Jimmy said. Elise is in the bottom three girls. So they are doing a bottom three girls and a bottom three guys? That’s half of the entire group? Why not just do two each?

Next, Seacrest pulled up Heejun Han, Jermaine Jones and Colton Dixon to the stage. And they recap Jermaine’s Michael Jackson suit from last night and I facepalm again. Anyway, Colton is safe. Heejun is also safe meaning Jermaine is in danger.

Then the remaining girls were called down to the stage including Erica Van Pelt, Shannon Magrane and hillbilly rodeo clownshoes Skylar Laine. Drunk bullrider Skylar is safe. Erica and Shannon are in the bottom three.

Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Jeremy Rosado and too-many-fingers-in-a-light-socket Deandre Brackensick. Phillip is safe. Jeremy is in the bottom guys. Joshua is in the bottom guys and Deandre is safe in a bit of a surprise.

Immediately, Seacrest tells Erica and Joshua are safe.

Final judgment time, Jermaine is safe. Jeremy is the bottom guy. Shannon is safe. Elise is also in the bottom. This is obviously a no-brainer with Jeremy getting the hook. I told you they should have kept Reed Grimm or Adam Brock instead of this guy.

Rant time: OK, the whole putting six people in the bottom was just a bad idea. Because it puts some bad initial impressions in the minds of the viewers. These six now are tainted in the eyes of the public because they were already the least desired performers. So next week, when people go to vote, they will think about if they want to vote for someone that was in the bottom from the week before or go with what the popular opinion is with the other seven contestants. Had they done just four in the bottom, it would have contained the drama but given Joshua and Erica even footing with those that actually were safe. So, by doing this, they have already created a class system on the show with the haves – those that were safe this week – and the presumed weaker singers going into the bottom.

Obviously we will see how it plays out but you may already know the first six getting the boot already – and would you want to throw your vote behind those that are bound to lose?
